Regalia

Native American Regalia

We want to give you the opportunity to make a huge impact in the life of a child in foster care. Foster parents are required to educate their children on the heritage and culture. This can be intimidating for some families. Many attend Pow Wows and Native American events. Children see the dresses, dancing regalia etc. but it can be difficult for parents to acquire such ornate outfits. We have made a partnership with an individual who can make amazing dresses at an incredible value.

What is Native American regalia?

Regalia (say "re-GAY-lia") is what an Indigenous dancer wears during traditional dances — like at a powwow. ... For example, a dancer who does jingle dance, wears regalia featuring many metal cones that knock together to make a beautiful sound while a grass dancer will wear leggings and headbands.

If you would like to make a donation specifically to provide a jingle dress to a young child, please specify in the comments when you donate. ($50 Value)

This opportunity is open to foster families in and around Rapid City, SD. If you would like a jingle dress, please email jordancombs@lightofmineranch.com
